Legality Of Abortion

Abortion Methods vary according to the growth of the baby in the womb of the mother.

• First Trimester is up to the 12^th weeks of gestation.
• Second Trimester is from 13^th to 28^th weeks of gestation.
• Third Trimester is from 29^th to 40^th weeks of gestation.

According to Indian Law, abortions are legal only maximum up to 24^th week of gestation. It means that abortion beyond 24 weeks of gestation of the baby is illegal and is a punishable offence in India with substantial penal consequences.
